Nikkie for Too Faced Release *Long Post*

So posts have been a little sparse recently as I've moved house and job to a new city - so sorry about that!
But I'm back with a little review about this collection that was realised by Too Faced Cosmetics in collaboration with Nikki from NikkiTutorials nearly two weeks ago rrp £48.00.
Now I've never owned any Too Faced products, but always been tempted by their products and there are many of them on my wishlist. For this reason I decided to take the plunge and purchase this release (plus I'm a sucker for a limited edition anything!)

Let's go through what you get and what I thought:
The main thing you get is this palette which is absolutely gorgeous. Any pictures I took did not do it justice.

So in here there are 9 eyeshadows, 2 blushers, a bronzer and a highlighter. Phew!
This palette has been my go to since I purchased it. I've used it for day to day wear, for something a little more glamorous, for looks down the pub and even a subtle look for a family event. I love it.
The 9 eyeshadows are: (line one) ivy, sugar coated, frosted yum (line two) irresistable, painkiller, makeup and chill (line three) mystic hour, wham bam, wanted.
The colours are pigmented to the right level - by this I mean if you don't tap the excess off the brush it doesn't look ridiculous on your eyes - it's buildable in the colour payoff if you want something heavy but also a nice level of colour with just one sweep. My favourites have been painkiller and irresistable - the second row on the palette. I can't wait to use the emerald green and jewel purple shades for a dramatic night out look, as these colours are stunning. I think the shades really do suit everyone, there's light pinks, neutrals but something a little special if you want to add sass to your look.

The two heart shape pans are blushers called:
I will always love you (orange-peach) and Justify my love (bright pink).
I don't have any shades of blush like this in my collection before this palette - I'm always a bit scared of bright blushers. However, I love these. They are highly pigmented so a little goes a long way, but look wonderful on their own or mixed together. Out of the two, I've used Justify my love more but that's purely because the orangy peach colour is out of my comfort zone at the mo.

Bottom row of the palette are the bronzer and highlighter:
Chocolate Soleil and Champagne Truffle.
I love these too. The Chocolate Soleil bronzer is on my wishlist but is something which I thought may be too dark for me. Using it from this palette, I love it. It's such a nice tone and I've been using it on my cheekbnes - just a little - with some of the bright pink blush on the apples. The look just goes with my tone wonderfully. Another thing about this bronzer is that it smells incredible - obviously like chocolate - and I love opening the palette to that smell.
The Champagne Truffle is a lovely highlighter, but it's subtle so if you like your highlighters to blind then this highlighter may need a something extra. However, I've loved using this on my browbone when I've used the neutral colours just to make it a little less subtle.

Now, moving on to what else was included in the pack.

Included was: A full size Too Faced Sketch Marker in black, a mini version of the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer, a special mini version of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in purple and a pot of Too Faced Glamour Dust in Gliterally.

So these were the products that made me think that this pack was worth the money - the fact that I got to try these as well as get that wonderful palette.

Let's talk about the Sketch Marker first. I've recently been trying to get to grips with liquid eyeliner again - been there before, failed miserably, gave up - and was trying to find the best way for me. I've been looking into felt tip, pointy nibs, gel liner and a brush - I just wasn't sure. Then I received this.
The nib of this is like a felt tip, but its very thin at the tip and also not too soft or too stiff so you can get a nice line with it. With this eye liner I've been able to do a flick first time - I could not believe it! the pigmentation is very good and it is indeed very black. I also really like the design of it - it looks nice for a eye liner it doesn't just look like a marker. The only downside to this was that one day when I wore it for work - a very sweaty day I should add - the liner had made a print of it's self in my crease - hard to explain- but that was after about 9 or 10 hours of wear so I didn't particularly mind that.

The mascara. Now this mascara I have heard so much about in the usual black colour. To some people it's the best mascara out there. My current favourite pricier mascara at the moment is Perversion by Urban Decay which is great for defining your lashes - this is meant to define and volumise, or so I've been told. In this pack the mascara is purple, so I've only really worn it in the house as I haven't had the sort of event to wear it for. It definitely defines the eyes but I wouldn't say it gave much volume to mine - but to be fair that may be my lashes. I do like the colour of it, which I wasn't sure about. It looks quite dark until you catch it in certain light so it's not what was expected - which I like.

The primer, I've only used once or twice. The first time I used the palette I wasn't at my house and I'd just grabbed the palette and liner to take with me in an overnight make up bag, but the shadows lasted a long time without. The primer is a nice consistency and I think it did make a difference to the lasting of the shadows. I do want to try the Urban Decay primer potion as I've heard people prefer one of the other - but it does a good job.

The Glamour Dust in Glitterally, I haven't actually used yet. I've never really tried using body glitter let alone one specific for your eyes,  but I also haven't had the occasion. I do intend on having a bit of a play with this though.

Not great pics but you can kind of see the gold and brown used -- and the liner. I'm improving guys.

Overall, I'm glad I managed to get this pack, and I've been swayed to the way of life with Too Faced Cosmetics...now to crave all other of their wonderfully smelling products.....

Did you purchase this set? What did you think?

Day Trip to Norwich!

So last Thursday whilst away with Mum in Norfolk, we decided to take a day trip (for shopping purposes) into Norwich. My Mum has never been to Norwich and so wanted to go in to the city and have a look around. Lincoln doesn't have that many larger shops and there were a few items  was looking to purchase that I thought would be easier to get in Norwich. So I thought I'd show you what I purchased:

So Make up purchases first. I have been longing to go to a store called Jarrolds for quite some time but always been a little bit intimidated as it looks so grand. I finally bit the bullet and went in last week and took advantage of the MAC store within it. I was after a few more pieces (most were out of stock!) but I got the Limited Edition Viva Glam Arianna Grande Lipglass (£14.00) and the MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation (£25.50). I've been looking to get a new foundation for a while and this is so true to my skin tone and not at all heavy but still gives me enough coverage. I love it so far (only worn it twice!).

I then went into their Boots and found that they had a NYX stand (super exciting to find out!) and purchased a few of the bits I've heard good things about. The NYX Green Colour Correcting concealer (£5.50), NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in Cannes (dupe for Kylie Jenner kit) and  Prague (Each £5.50) the NYX Brow Pomade in Espresso (£5.50) with Application Brush (£8.50). If you are looking for a matte lip cream which will last  - these are fantastic, with such a good range of colours and really do last after eating and drinking. I'll hopefully get some swatches of these posted soon - likely to be in a favourites if I'm honest!
Clothing wise, I got some dungarees from New Look. I'm really loving the dungaree trend at the moment and love how comfy they can be with a t-shirt and some pumps. I believe these (below) are the ones I purchased and they were £29.99.

I'm also going to a hen do next weekend and wanted some leather look trousers or wet look coated jeans to pair with some cami tops and a blazer - I love this style. I nipped into River Island and found some of the Molly Jeggings which were coated and liked how they looked.

M

The two cami tops I got were from Matalan and I'm super surprised at the price and quality if I'm honest.  I wanted either a white cami top or a really bright colour (will probably wash me out but hey ho).  They were only £6.00 each and definitely could be a double for the Topshop camis which are about £16.00 - very happy with these and may end up getting the rest of the colours!

So those are the main pieces I bought for that trip, but I left Norwich wanting more clothes than before I went. Any of these pieces catch your eye? What would you pair them with?

Yarmouth. Wonderful Yarmouth by the Sea.

SO as you'll see from the date of my last post to this one, I've had a bit of a hiatus from here - even though I'd just started it. IN mid April, I has a big project happening which meant long hours at work and I've just got back from a weeks holiday.

Now for my holibobs I went to a place called Burgh Castle near Great Yarmouth and stayed at Cherry Tree Holiday Park (ran by Parkdean), with my Mum.

We regularly went on holidays to camps which were owened by a company called Weststar, most of which have now been bought by Parkdean to contine their chain. And everytime we go it is so much fun.

So whilst there me and Mum got to explore Norfolk which was interesting. I visit Norwich quite a lot, as my boyfriend lives there, but not really to see the wider Norfolk - which my Mum hadn't visited for about 30 years. (Was quite funny to hear her go to every seaside town and say there only used to be a pier and now there's a supermarket as well!)

We visited a few different towns whilst there; Hunstanton, Lowerstoft, Hemsby, Wroxham, Southwold and passed through Sandringham - just to name a few.

It feels like I haven't been on a holiday in ages and it has been quite a while, so was nice to just take a step back, chill and enjoy the seaside and Norfolk Broads.

Super quick post but wanted to share some pics from Norfolk.

High End Beauty Wishlist - March 2016

So...I've recently been getting more and more adventurous with my make up and beauty regime that I'm starting to now look into High End products and what I could add to my small collection.

To me High End is anything over £10.00 if I'm honest, I don't usually buy make up from drug store type shops if it's more than that - or I already use it. So with that in mind here are my top ten that I'm wanting at the mo on my wishlist:

1) Anastasia Beverley Hills Contour Palette - £39.00

I've recently been getting more and more into contouring but currently using bronzer and concealer to do it. I find it does give my face more definition than without but I would like something with more staying power and which will give me a little bit more shebang.

2) Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Highlighting Pen - £25.00
By all means not a new product but this is something I've looked at a lot and I really want to purchase at some point. The YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Highlighting pen can be used as a highlighter (obvs) but also to conceal undereye bags and the like to make the skin look a lot brighter. It's also apparently meant to work as a good refresher to brighten your makeup - defo one to try.

3) Lancome Grandiose Mascara - £25.00
I've seen this mascara being used by one of my favourite youtubers as her everyday mascara featuring in her vlogs. I like the look of this due to the angle of the brush of the mascara - I sometimes get in a little bit of a mess when applying my mascara because of how i hold the wand. The wand is also meant to help fan the lashes out which I think would be a nice effect to try.

4) Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Eye Shadow Palette - £39.00
Again this is an item that has been up and on different blogs/vlogs recently and has caught my eye. The colours just look very versatile, you could use a couple together and have a nice daytime look or use some of the bolder or lustre colours to turn your make up from day to night. It's reportedly very pigmented and easy to blend - I hope to invest in this at some point.

5) Mac Cosmetics Prep and Prime Fix + - £17.00
This is something which has been recommended to me after talking to a few people. I've been looking for a product which would keep my make up in place and be prolong the look for that night/event. I was toying between this one and an Urban Decay one but this at the moment is winning. In April I'm having a city break with my Mum and there's a MAC store so may be able to purchase this (and some other goodies) then.

I have a list as long as my arm but I'll leave this here. Have you tried any of these products? What were your thoughts? What's on your high end wishlist?

Starting my fitness journey...again.

So, today starts my fitness journey....again.

I don't know if you're the same but everytime I give just a slight sign of getting into a workout routine something happens and it's gone just like that - for me I usually say work is the issue.

However, I've recently been really thinking about this and reading those inspirational quotes that go around on instagram and pinterest and one has really struck a chord. You only have one body and need to make it a priority. I plan to do this.

Now I'm not saying I'm going to only eat celery sticks and go to the gym everyday or to never eat another slice of pizza or chocolate bar, but I do really want to start to balance out my diet and be active to some level everyday.

A year ago (this is how long I've been trying!) I purchased a workout guide by Kayla Itsines called the Bikini Body Guide as well as a healthy eating guide of hers. And it really worked - whilst I did it. She's recently launched an app called Sweat with Kayla, and whilst my subscription is for the browser as the app isn't available for Windows Phone, I'm finding this is more motivational - for instance the trophy that you get after you complete the workout is ridiculously motivational.

So from tomorrow I'm going to start out with the Pre-Training Week One. Again. And I'm going to use part of this blog to hold myself accountable.

I have to start realising that this is a journey into a lifestyle...not a quick fit wonder.

Have you started your fitness journey? What do you do to eat clean or get active?

Lindsay
